January Crystal Beach Afternoon

When visiting one of Ontario's most popular beaches in the dead of winter, you know what not to expect. Exposed flesh, for instance. One thing you may not expect, but are presented with in generous amounts, is ice. Lake Erie's ice shield stretches across to America, covered with the snow which makes Buffalo's southern suburbs especially susceptible to snarling snow showers. (Take THAT, Irv Weinstein!)

BLUE SKY!!!!

Now then.... these photos don't really have much artistic value, but are included here to illustrate that out of 8 days on the road, a two-hour pit-stop in downtown Ottawa provided the ONLY 2 hours of sunshine of the entire trip! This is not an exaggeration. Oh wait, sorry..... there was about a half-hour on PEI on Tuesday before the misty rains descended upon us yet again.

Oh well.... at least we weren't camping.
